A hundred metres past it is the beach itself, which has a picnic tables. The water is relatively shallow making this a good spot for a picnic and a swim.
*** Note that Mackie beach is also surrounded by private homes and visitors are requested to be respectful and pack-out whatever you bring with you. As a community maintained beach, a donation is requested to help with upkeep of the site, which can be done via the donation box at the park entrance.
